I came to Massey University from clinical medical practice in Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, completed a Master of Philosophy in Information Systems, and joined the Department of Information Systems as a lecturer in 1999. I am now employed as an Associate Professor in the Massey Business School. I worked part-time for Massey University and part time in clinical medical practice up to 2019. My research interests include health informatics, especially sharing of health data, data governance, ethical design, telehealth especially smart sensor technologies. As I have worked as both an academic and medical doctor, my research has an applied end-user focus, translating end-user research into clinical practice/health sector policy. With the increasing use of AI, my research interests now include AI as an enabling technology.   I am a Fellow of ACHI and HiNZ and represent New Zealand on international digital technology organisations including IMIA and ISO.

Fabián Labra-Spröhnle is a translational neuroscience researcher and experimental-system developer working at the intersection of neuroscience, psychiatry, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence. At Noologica, he provides scientific and conceptual leadership, directing the development of digital experimental methods for studying executive function and the organisation of behaviour over time.

His role includes experimental design, behavioural phenotyping, analytical development, clinical translation, research strategy, ethics and funding applications, and coordination of international academic and clinical collaborations. He leads Noologica’s work on ADHD assessment, deep phenotyping, clinical triage, longitudinal evaluation, and personalised analysis, translating theoretical and experimental advances into clinically useful tools.

Fabián Labra-Spröhnle

I am a Senior Lecturer and biomedical engineering researcher at Auckland University of Technology. My research focuses on wearable and non-invasive physiological sensing, biomedical signal processing, computational modelling and AI-enabled health monitoring.
I work with multimodal signals including bioimpedance, ECG, EEG, PPG and impedance cardiography. My AI interests include multimodal data fusion, explainable machine learning, physics-informed AI, probabilistic modelling and personalised physiological assessment.
My current health applications include cardiovascular monitoring, dementia and neurodegeneration, diabetic foot and chronic wound monitoring, and cardiometabolic health. I am particularly interested in developing AI systems that are clinically meaningful, physiologically grounded, robust to real-world variability and suitable for use in community and home settings.

Jerry was born in Taiwan and grew up in New Zealand. He first trained as a computer scientist and electrical engineer and worked as a web developer before moving towards teaching.  He was a primary teacher for 11 years in Taiwan. He then began his psychology career in Taiwan with a focus on the intersection between technology and people. Currently, he works as a senior lecturer at the University of Otago in the Department of Psychological Medicine. He also works as a clinical psychologist in private practice.

Jerry's research interests include cognitive bias modification (CBM)—a digital self-administered intervention addressing unhelpful interpretation bias in various psychopathologies. Jerry has also applied CBM to other areas, including stereotype bias in medical students towards Māori patients.

I am a PhD candidate in Nursing at the University of Auckland. I previously completed a PhD in Health Education and Health Promotion. My background includes clinical practice, primary healthcare, health promotion, and research. My current research focuses on the use of artificial intelligence to support nurses in primary care, with a particular interest in AI-assisted tools that can reduce workload, improve clinical documentation, and enhance the quality of care for the community.

He brings extensive governance experience across regulated public-sector environments, strong strategic and stakeholder leadership capability, and a deep understanding of the challenges associated with stewarding critical infrastructure and delivering essential public services in regional and rural Aotearoa.

While his professional background is often associated with digital, data, and AI governance, his core contribution is governance in complex systems. With extensive experience working alongside engineers, financial specialists, and operational leaders to oversee risk, compliance, long-term investment, and organisational capability. His governance roles frequently involve scrutiny of capital-intensive programmes, balance-sheet risk, and long-term sustainability, ensuring decisions are robust, future-focused, and publicly defensible.

I am a Lecturer at the Human Interface Technology Lab (HIT Lab NZ) at the University of Canterbury. My research addresses individualised interactions between humans and intelligent virtual agents, enabled by recent advances in the field of artificial intelligence. Such agents can be purely text-based, voice-based, or embodied by utilising technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality. By taking a user-centred perspective, the overarching aim is to design human-AI interfaces that are valuable, efficient, and safe for users.

Daniel Wilson lectures in Computer Science at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland. His teaching and research are in the areas of AI, Māori Data Sovereignty, Māori Algorithmic Sovereignty, and AI ethics. Daniel is a Co-Director of the Centre of Machine Learning for Social Good, Pou Pae Auaha at Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga, a member of Te Pokapū in The Māori Data Sovereignty Network - Te Mana Raraunga, member of the Kāhui Māori for the AI Forum, and treasurer of the AI Researchers Association. Daniel has a PhD in Philosophy and a Master of Professional Studies in Data Science from Waipapa Taumata Rau.
