Biography
I am a clinical audiologist, clinician researcher and honorary lecturer at the University of Auckland with a strong interest in public health and service re-design. I completed my PhD through University of Queensland in 2023 investigating audiology-led models of care in ORL services. I currently work as an Advanced Audiology Practitioner at Health NZ Counties Manukau, Auckland and hold a Health Research Council (HRC) Clinical Practitioner Research Fellowship (2024). My current research interests include addressing inequities in hearing and ear care in Aotearoa, including the development of innovative services, technologies and tools to provide effective, efficient and sustainable improvements in clinical care. I am particularly interested in implementation science as a methodology to improve translation of innovative technologies into clinical practice.
Research Projects and Ideas
Our HRC funded Ai in Health Research project aims to improve the diagnosis of ear disease in children by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) technology into primary healthcare. Ear infections are common, but accurate diagnosis can be difficult leading to delays in treatment for high-needs populations. This project uses implementation science to understand how a computer-vision algorithm (AI) otoscopy-tool can be implemented within usual clinical pathways in primary care settings.

Our team is interested in collaborations in the ear and hearing health space, as well as in primary care. We bring strong clinical expertise and valuable clinician perspectives related to real-world implementation.
