Dr Sandra Hanchard - Kolomotu'a, Neiafu - Tonga
Heart Foundation and Pūtahi Manawa Pacific Research Fellow, University of Auckland
Sandra is a Tongan researcher investigating inequities in heart health outcomes for Māori and Pacific peoples. Her current research project explores digital models of care and AI-enhanced apps for heart failure self management, with a focus on cultural and language requirements for Pacific peoples. Prior to academia, Sandra worked in the big data analytics industry for two decades in Melbourne and Malaysia and contributed to building data literacies in communities. Gaining a PhD, she has expertise in how users adopt digital technologies and societal implications. She currently serves as a governance member on the Whānau, Consumer and Clinician Digital Council and Cardiac Clinical Network for Te Whatu Ora. Sandra is motivated by lived experience to meaningfully improve health care journeys and wellbeing of our whānau and communities.
