Biography

I am an Associate Professor at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) and a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Digital Health. My research sits at the intersection of AI, data, information and decision-making, with particular expertise in digital health, health informatics and AI-enabled decision support. I work across AI/ML, speech and digital biomarkers, IoT and data-driven technologies, translating research into practical solutions for healthcare and wider societal challenges. My work spans areas including neurological health, mental health, cancer, emergency and disaster contexts, and digitally enabled care. I am particularly interested in interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaborations that connect AI and data science with real-world health challenges, and welcome opportunities for collaborative research, industry engagement and research translation.

Research Projects and Ideas

I am exploring AI-enabled decision support, speech and digital biomarkers, multimodal health data analytics, and IoT-enabled monitoring for earlier detection, personalised assessment and ongoing care. I am particularly interested in responsible and explainable AI and translating models from development to real-world validation and implementation. I welcome collaborative projects across neurological health, mental health, and other areas where AI can improve health decisions and outcomes.

Collaborations and Skills

I am seeking collaborations with clinicians, health services, AI/data researchers, Māori health researchers, industry and community partners to develop, validate and translate AI-enabled health solutions. I bring expertise in AI/ML, health informatics, clinical decision support, speech and digital biomarkers.

Connections of interest

I am keen to connect with health, government, industry and research leaders seeking to translate AI and data into better decisions and measurable impact. I welcome conversations around AI and digital health strategy, responsible AI adoption, decision support, research translation, evaluation and innovation. I am also interested in collaborators and partners for NZ and international multidisciplinary projects and industry-research partnerships
