Biography
Catherine Shi is an AI and data science researcher at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). Her research focuses on designing computational approaches to make sense of complex, multimodal brain imaging data and apply AI to real health challenges. Catherine is deeply committed to collaborative, responsible innovation in health AI, and to fostering the cross-sector partnerships across academia, clinical practice, and industry that will be essential to realising AI's potential in healthcare.
Research Projects and Ideas
My current research focuses on imaging-based neuromodulation — using multimodal brain imaging and AI to guide, personalise, and monitor brain stimulation therapies for neurological and psychiatric diseases. A key goal is developing imaging-derived biomarkers that can predict treatment response, moving neuromodulation toward more precise, evidence-based care. I welcome collaborations with clinicians, neuroscientists, and engineers working at this intersection.
