Biography
I'm a Wellington-based GP and co-founder and CEO of Gestalt, an AI-native medical education company building clinical reasoning practice for medical students. I trained at Otago, hold fellowships with the RNZCGP and RACGP and an MBA from Cambridge, and previously worked for G42 Healthcare in Abu Dhabi. I still see patients part-time.
My AI in health interest is applied: building AI that teaches and assesses reasoning safely, how this is validated, and how it is governed.
Research Projects and Ideas
Collaborations and Skills
Seeking university and postgraduate training partners for further research with medical students and junior doctors, measuring confidence and reasoning quality; expanding to other health disciplines as we build out. Also seeking collaborators and funding pathways for low-resource settings, including the Pacific, to assist in developing on-device version for this setting.
Connections of interest
Medical educators and clinical leads weighing up AI for reasoning and communication training, especially anyone running or planning pilots with students or junior doctors. Researchers working on how to evaluate AI tutors and what counts as adequate validation. Anyone with a funding pathway for health workforce education in the Pacific or other low-resource settings. Also happy to talk with nursing, midwifery and allied health colleagues about whether this approach transfers.
