I am a lawyer specialising in health technology, and I am also on the board of MTANZ (Medical Technology Association of New Zealand). In my capacity as being an MTANZ board member, I am part of a working group that is advocating for how AI medical devices should be regulated in NZ. By way of background - the Government has indicated that AI enabled medical devices will be within scope of the new Medical Products Bill. MTANZ and the DHA (Digital Health Association) are working together to advocate for regulation that is fit for purpose, protective of patients, and does not unduly stifle innovation.
