Associate Professor Mike O’Sullivan

Mike is an Assoc Prof in the Department of Engineering Science and Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Design at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland. He specialises in applying Operations Research (OR), Analytics, and AI to improve decision-making and system performance. His work in healthcare includes developing data-driven tools for optimised General Medicine rosters, efficient patient transport scheduling, and simulation and optimisation models for surgical planning. These intelligent systems enhance resource use, staff wellbeing, and patient outcomes.
